How to Release Your Impounded Vehicle

They’re many reasons law enforcement impounds a vehicle. From unpaid parking tickets to accidents scene clean up, each will have different requirements for releasing the vehicle from impound. All cities and law enforcement agencies have different tow and storage rates which tow companies are required to follow by contract. Each will have different ways to release your impounded vehicle. Most require an agency release form which is paid for at the impounding agency and brought to our office. If you’re not sure what to do, give us a call and we’ll explain what you’ll need to release your impounded vehicle. If you’re unsure of the vehicle location or what tow company impounded your vehicle, contact your local law enforcement agency and they’ll be able assist you. Acceptable forms of payment include, cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover or ATM. All credit card transactions are subject to a $2.00 surcharge fee.

Retrieving Personal Property from Your Impounded Vehicle

You must be the registered owner of the vehicle to have access to the vehicle and retrieve personal property. Come during normal business hours 8:00-5:00 to have access to your vehicle for free. After hours and weekends there will be $100.00 gate fee to retrieve your belongings. If you are not the registered owner, you must have permission from the registered owner to retrieve your belongings. Only exceptions are retrieving your ID or medication with your name on the bottle.

We will need the following information in order to release or allow you to inspect your vehicle or permit you to remove unattached personal property:

1. Make of Vehicle.
2. License or Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
3. Government issued photo identification such as a Driver’s License or Identification Card.
4. Proof of ownership such as current registration, title, or rental agreement.
