Common Questions from Customers to Tow Companies

Why is the bill so high for my towing and storage fees for impounded vehicle?

We have no control over the price of tow or storage if law enforcement tow your vehicle. The rates are set by the city and enforced by the impounding agency. Each city and law enforcement agency have different rates. If you have an issue with the fees, you will have to contact the department that impounded your vehicle.

Why can’t I make monthly payment on my bill?

We do not have the resources to keep track or enforce the monthly payments. If you’re having trouble coming up with the funds to pay the bill all at once, but will over time, I recommend getting a loan to pay the bill off. You can then slowly pay off the loan without going to collections or acquiring additional fees for the outstanding bill

You impounded my car and I don’t want it anymore. Why won’t you take the vehicle to settle the bill?

We have zero control over the price of tow or storage if law enforcement towed your vehicle. The rates are set by the city and enforced by the impounding agency. Collections

If the lien on your impounded vehicle has cleared and the balance is not settled, we will sell the vehicle and send the remaining balance to collections. The DMV provides us all records of registration and transfers.  If you were the last owner on record before the date of tow, then you are the responsible party for the bill. Income received from the vehicle sale is deducted from the total bill. We do not accept payment plans and the balance needs to be paid in full before we remove the account. If the balance is not paid within four weeks of the final notice, we will send the account to a collection agency. After you receive a notice from the collection agency, you will work directly with them. We use AAA Credit Service Collection Agency. Their phone number is (714) 956-7173 and fax is (714) 533-6698.  If you believe that DMV’s records are inaccurate , you will need to request from the DMV a postdated record of the vehicle before the date of the tow. In order for the documentation to be valid, you would need to have the California seal stamp attached on the paperwork as well. This process usually takes 6 to 8 weeks to receive. Once you receive the documentation, bring it to our office and we’ll remove your account.  Having a copy of a release of liability with just a date stamp is not considered to be valid as that stamp can be altered or fraudulent. If an extension from the final notice date is needed to pay or retrieve the paperwork from DMV, you’ll need to call our offices to approve the extension.
